In creating this collection, we often discussed what constituted an 'informal sign'. Our original interest was in the instructions to wash your dishes or keep a door closed that proliferate in the workplace. Soon, however, we started noticing signs everywhere that in some way departed from our loose concept of an 'informal sign' but still seemed worth documenting. Here we present some of those intriguing edge cases and invite you to decide for yourself whether they belong in this collection.
